Renter-Friendly Nursery Decor: How to Add a Statement Wall Without Losing Your Deposit

Lejervenlig børneværelse-indretning: Sådan får du en statement-væg uden at miste depositum

A nursery is usually the room parents most want to personalize and least want to gamble a deposit on. Our self-adhesive, hand-painted wall decor gives you an enchanting nursery that can come off when you move, without paste, tools, or a wall repair afterward. Here are three ways to do it, from a full wall down to a single small detail.

Option 1: A framed mural as the room's focal point

Instead of covering an entire wall in printed nursery wallpaper, a set of our individually hand-painted wall pieces arranged as one composition gives you a single focal area, like a large framed picture, without touching the rest of the wall. That keeps the rest of the room neutral, while still giving the nursery a clear, intentional centrepiece above the crib or changing table.

42 hand-painted pieces — swallows, butterflies, stars, hearts, and flowers in soft pastel colors — arrange as an 80x80cm framed mural above the bed, or as a border of about 470cm around the room — from 750 DKK

Option 2: A wall of swarming butterflies

Fifteen butterflies in a loose cluster above a dresser, scattered across the closet doors, or framing a window gives the wall movement — and they're just as easy to remove piece by piece if you rearrange the room later, or take them entirely with you to the next nursery.

Option 3: The smallest statement — a name above the bed

A hand-painted name above the bed or crib personalizes the room instantly, and takes a few minutes to apply. It can also move with you — to the next room, or the next home, as your child grows.

Why this actually protects your deposit

The material behind all three of these is the same: self-adhesive, PVC-free textile wallpaper that applies without tools and lifts off without residue. That's the part worth confirming with your landlord upfront if there's any doubt in the lease — not the specific design, but the fact that nothing here is pasted, painted, or drilled into the wall. Move-out inspections care about the wall surface underneath, and a clean peel leaves nothing for them to find.

Mixing and scaling it down later

These three options aren't mutually exclusive — a lot of nurseries end up with a small mural as the focal point and a scattered butterfly or name detail elsewhere in the room. And because everything here is sold as individual pieces rather than a fixed pattern, you can always add more later, or take pieces down one at a time as your child gets older, without redoing the whole wall.
